theCAUSE is a band consisting of 5 Pittsburgh musicians who have all been around the proverbial block. Playing tunes from Grateful Dead, Phish, The Beatles, Bob Dylan and MORE, including some very tasty originals, theCAUSE packs a punch while still paying close attention to the delicate touch. The players are Eric “Pappy” Weingrad on guitar and vocals (Double Dose, Pappy’s Blues Junction), David Tauberg on bass and vocals (Powers Run Band, Hard to Handle, Cherylann Hawk), Mike South on drums (Left for Dead, Sticky, Russ Lauf Band) and, joining us in 2008, Pittsburgh blues veteran Jill Paone Simmons brings a whole new dimension to theCAUSE on vocals and continues to rock with us today. Jill also fronts the all female Dead band Brown Eyed Women . Kip Lieber on keyboards, who also performs with Fungus.

An Evening With celebrates 50 years of music and memories of the Allman Brothers Band. With performances from the early days of the Brother’s career with songs like Whipping Post and Dreams clear through the later masterpieces like Jessica and Soulshine, AEW honors the historic lifespan of the genre defining blues rock band by not just reproducing the recordings, but by diving headfirst into the creative spirit behind the music that made ABB shows such a wonder to attend. Soulful vocals and superb instrumentation are an absolute must to honor this music, and these seasoned musicians filling the roles call upon every ounce of talent in their souls to deliver these crowd-pleasing renditions with authority and the respect they deserve.

Big Rail favorite, Charlie Barath Blues Band returns for a Fall show in the woods!
And man, oh man, with very special guest Ryan Hartt, this will be one for the ages!
Ryan Hartt is a mainstay of the New England Blues scene, and he’ll be in Western PA for a the weekend, wrapping things up with a Sunday afternoon set with the Charlie Barath Blues Band at Big Rail Brewing’s Harvest Gathering Festival. If you’re a fan of authentic Blues music, Ryan will knock you out (figuratively speaking, of course) with his Vocals, Guitar, and of course his Harmonica Prowess!
Having two world class Blues harp cats on one stage is pretty amazing, but when the band behind them consists of Jimmy Adler on Guitar, Bob Insko on Bass, and JR Richley on Drums, this is one event you absolutely do not want to miss!
And don’t forget that this is part of the Big Rail Harvest Gathering Festival, an event that features activities that are fun for the entire family.

When it’s time to escape from it all, it’s time to Roam Free. An original band from Pittsburgh, PA, Roam Free believes in using music to free the mind from the mundane, to ride the waves of sound to wherever you want to be in your universe in that moment. From explosive peaks to delicate valleys, Roam Free explores music organically, with songs that emote and tell stories that encourage us to leave behind the stress and pressures of the daily grind to escape, even if just momentarily, and enjoy life to the fullest as often as we can.
Looking to get away for a little while? Of course you are.
Roam Free.

For over 20 years, Blues Attack has been an integral part of the Pittsburgh blues scene. Originally fronted by the amazing Jill West, Blues Attack has played around the country and were the third place winners of the International Blues Challenge in 2005. Although we have lost our friend Jill, Blues Attack is carrying on. The core trio of Gregg Krupa on guitar and vocals, Hank Raffetto on bass, and Nicky ‘No Shoes’ on drums remains in place (also known as the Bo’Hog Brothers) and has been joined by the talented ‘Big Sexy’ Jack Sanso on harmonica and vocals and rhythm guitar player Jimmy ‘MG’ Tassone. The band has won the Pittsburgh Blues Challenge a total of 5 times and Gregg Krupa is a two time winner of the best blues guitar player award from the Blues Society of Western Pennsylvania.

Veterans of the festival and live music circuit in Pittsburgh and the surrounding tri-state area, the funk-rock group, HABATAT, have shared stages with The Soul Rebels, Pink Talking Fish, Twiddle, The Heavy Pets, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, and Joe Lewis Walker, among others.
“This group will leave you floored with their energetic live performance…a raw boogaloo of sound.” -The Jamwich
HABATAT carries the flashy vibes of some of the legendary funk bands, like Chicago and Blood, Sweat & Tears. The group has been described as “Allman Brothers with horns,” a testimony to their pocket grooves, soaring guitar solos, tight horn lines, and powerful vocals. There is no doubt that HABATAT sets the footprint for the groove.

Tiger Maple String Band is an energetic collection of talented musicians dedicated to continuing traditional and original old-time music. With a home base in Northwest Pennsylvania, a rural setting gives plenty of inspiration towards the continuance of acoustic music. The band features Justine and Alison Parker on fiddle, Barry Smith on banjo and vocals, and Fred Parker on guitar and vocals.
The sound of Tiger Maple String Band has rich historical and cultural values, beautiful harmonies, hot old-time fiddling, and a full-body richness that only acoustic instruments and clear vocals can bring. The band draws its inspiration from a variety of different musical directions, with old-time Appalachian tunes as a central focus. These fiddle tunes, mountain ballads, murder ballads, coal-mining songs, and beautiful originals make up a set that leaves a lasting impression on their audience. Folks walk away with big smiles and good feelings of friendship and love.
